Sri Lanka, May 12 -- Authorities must safeguard the independence, dignity, and credibility of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, according to a letter sent to the Commission's Chairman by the 'Dinana Dakuna' Collective.

The collective emphasised in the letter that although the Anti-Corruption Act strengthened the institution with the aim of eradicating fraud and corruption in the country, various opinions regarding the current functioning of the Commission are emerging within society.

They noted their belief that such a situation is unsuitable for an independent commission.
