Deputy Minister of Defence links shootings to evidence destruction
Sri Lanka, Aug. 24 -- Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara said recent shootings were clear attempts to destroy evidence.
He made these remarks yesterday (23) while attending the "Adithana" meeting held in Kalutara, which was comprised of retired members of the tri-forces representing the National People's Power.
Expressing further views, the Deputy Minister of Defence stated:
"We brought 58 large-scale criminals who had red notices issued against them back to this country from abroad recently. They were living luxuriously in mansions in those countries with vehicles and helicopters. Back then, when politicians went there, they enjoyed those luxuries with them and carried out these things.
