Sri Lanka, May 11 -- Schools in the Deniyaya Education Zone, which were temporarily closed due to a spreading viral flu, will reopen on Wednesday, May 13.

Southern Province Education Secretary Nishanth Pathirana announced that although the initial plan was to reopen on May 12, the date was moved to the 13th to ensure all health and safety measures are fully completed.

School premises undergo thorough cleaning and disinfection today and tomorrow (May 11 and 12) to guarantee student safety before academic activities resume.

Authorities request any volunteers or organisations interested in assisting with the cleaning of schools and preschools contact the Deniyaya Zonal Education Office.
