Sri Lanka, June 27 -- The number of reported dengue cases reached 50,459 this year, pushing the national count past the 50,000 threshold amid a severe outbreak.

The National Dengue Control Unit reported 30 deaths resulting from the disease.

Dengue prevention programmes continue nationwide to address the rising threat.

During a dengue control committee meeting at the Kandy District Secretariat, officials revealed that mosquito breeding sites were identified in approximately 59% of schools within the Kandy District.
