Sri Lanka, May 27 -- The day-to-day operations of the Department of Motor Traffic face severe disruption, causing significant inconvenience to the public, because responsible authorities failed to appoint a Commissioner General for nearly two months, internal sources state.

Internal administrative actions are progressing very sluggishly following the departure of the former Commissioner General due to a legal issue.

Furthermore, the printing of driving licenses and number plates proceeds at a very slow pace, leaving hundreds of thousands of paying customers in severe distress.
