Sri Lanka, April 24 -- Sri Lankan Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) met with Khaled Khiari, the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and Peace Operations, on April 22 at the United Nations Headquarters.
This meeting occurred as part of an official visit to New York and included Jayantha Jayasooriya, the Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations.
The Sri Lankan delegation outlined preparatory measures for the proposed deployment of troops to UN operations.
They emphasised that all personnel will receive structured training on the Human Rights Due Diligence Policy, International Humanitarian Law, and International Human Rights Law to meet UN standards.
