Sri Lanka, Oct. 26 -- The Education Ministry says Provincial Education Secretaries and Provincial Education Directors have been given authority to make appropriate decisions if prevailing heavy rains prevent schools from functioning.

Accordingly, these authorities will have full power to decide on closing schools temporarily or keeping them open, taking into account disaster situations, flood risks, or road blockages in relevant areas.
