Sri Lanka, April 22 -- Government-approved compensation of Rs. 500,000 for houses partially damaged by Cyclone Ditwah must be paid to beneficiaries before the end of May, except in cases involving exceptional issues.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake gave these instructions to officials during a progress review meeting held today (22) at the Presidential Secretariat regarding the compensation and rehousing of residents affected by the cyclone.
The meeting focused on the progress of providing new houses or a Rs. 5 million compensation package for those whose homes were completely destroyed.
The President directed officials to expedite these payments.
