Sri Lanka, Oct. 27 -- The first meeting of BIMSTEC health ministers and the meeting of senior officials on health are scheduled to be held in Colombo on November 10 and 11.

Cabinet approval to host the meetings of the Bay of Bengal initiative for multi sectoral technical and economic cooperation (BIMSTEC), following a proposal submitted by the Minister of Health and Mass Media.

BIMSTEC aims to promote socio economic development and strengthen technical cooperation among member countries in south and southeast Asia.

During the 6th BIMSTEC summit held in Bangkok, Thailand, in April 2025, member states discussed plans to convene a meeting of Health Ministers to strengthen regional cooperation in the health sector.
