Sri Lanka, July 27 -- A total of 257 fire incidents have been reported in Colombo and its suburbs so far this year, according to the Fire Services Department.

Two fire incidents were reported in the Colombo area yesterday (26).

One incident involved a fire at a house on Obeysekarapura Mawatha in Rajagiriya.

Another fire broke out at a house on Jaya Mawatha in Homagama yesterday afternoon.

No casualties were reported in either incident, and electrical short circuits were identified as the cause of the fires.

Fire incidents recently drew significant attention following a fire at a helmet manufacturing factory in the Homagama Industrial Zone, which resulted in the deaths of five employees.
