Sri Lanka, March 9 -- Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama ordered today (09) to recall the case involving the blocking of roads outside the United Nations office in Colombo on March 18.
The charges relate to a 2016 protest against the visit of then UN Human Rights Commissioner Prince Zeid Al Hussein, which allegedly caused significant public inconvenience.
Further evidence examination against six defendants, including former Minister Wimal Weerawansa, is scheduled for that date.
Magistrate Bodaragama issued the order after Cinnamon Gardens Police informed the court that two additional witnesses are available to testify.
