Sri Lanka, May 26 -- The Department of Meteorology says that sea areas around the island are likely to be rough, with a risk of sea waves surging into coastal areas in some locations.

It has urged the fishing and maritime communities to remain highly vigilant regarding the situation.

According to the latest advisory, sea areas extending from Kankesanthurai to Mannar via Chilaw, and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota, are expected to be rough.

Strong gusty winds reaching up to 60 km/h may also occur in these regions.

The department further warns that in nearshore waters from Kalpitiya to Colombo and Galle to Matara, there is a possibility of sea waves surging onto land, and residents in coastal areas are advised to remain cautious....
