Sri Lanka, July 5 -- Twelve inmates were admitted to hospital after a clash occurred between two groups at the Negombo Prison, according to hospital sources.

The cause of the unrest and the subsequent confrontation inside the facility remains unknown.

Prison authorities have initiated further investigations into the incident.
