CID probe ordered into alleged negligence over narcotics information
Sri Lanka, Oct. 1 -- The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate alleged failures and negligence by police officers in responding to information received by Senior DIG Ranmal Kodituwakku regarding two containers suspected of carrying illegal narcotics at the Colombo Port.
According to a clarification issued by Police, the CID probe will determine whether the alleged failures or omissions occurred because police officers or officials from other relevant agencies acted with the intention of benefiting any party, and whether such conduct warrants criminal charges.
