Sri Lanka, Nov. 4 -- Construction of the first phase of the Central Expressway section between Kurunegala and Dambulla is expected to begin by the first week of December, Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways Prasanna Gunasena told Parliament today.

He said the project would be launched on the same day as construction of the Ratnapura Expressway section extending up to Ingiriya.

According to the Deputy Minister, both projects will be funded through domestic resources and carried out by local contractors, without relying on loans or incurring interest costs.
