Sri Lanka, May 14 -- The Ministry of Energy has launched a special compensation programme for employees of the Ceylon Electricity Board who are voluntarily retiring under the institution's restructuring process.

Organised under the theme "Proud Service - Safe Ending", the programme aims to recognise employees who have rendered long-standing and exceptional service to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).

Under the voluntary retirement scheme, (VRS) a total financial compensation package of Rs. 8.5 billion will be awarded to 1,898 employees.
