Sri Lanka, Aug. 11 -- The Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, highlighted that within the teachings of the Holy Church, imposing any form of the death penalty cannot be agreed to.

Issuing a statement, the Cardinal stated that according to paragraph 2267 of the Catholic Catechism, the death penalty is unacceptable.

He also stated that the firm expectation of the Archdiocese of Colombo is to continue working towards revealing all parties including the mastermind or masterminds involved in the Easter Sunday terror attack and delivering justice to the victims according to the law of the country.
