Cabinet grants approval to establish Education Council in Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka, Aug. 18 -- Cabinet approval has been granted to draft a bill to establish an Education Council in Sri Lanka, covering all professional categories in the general education sector, including teachers, teacher advisors, principals, teacher educators, and education administrators.
This Education Council is expected to establish an institutional mechanism for functions including the standardisation, registration or licensing, quality assurance, and accreditation of education professionals.
A committee chaired by Senior Professor O.G. Dayaratne was appointed by the Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education to study and submit recommendations regarding this matter.
