Sri Lanka, April 19 -- The entire Cabinet must accept responsibility for the import of substandard coal, as the decision to procure from an unregistered company was a collective government action, stated the Joint Opposition in a special announcement issued today (19).
The opposition argued that a mere ministerial resignation is insufficient, noting that a formal mechanism must be established to recover the massive financial losses incurred by the country across multiple sectors.
The statement further dismissed the minister's resignation as a "fake excuse" intended to shield the government from a Presidential Commission, asserting that the departure does not change the core facts of the case.
