Cabinet approves programme to rebuild religious sites affected by Ditwah
Sri Lanka, June 16 -- Cabinet approval was granted for the programme to rebuild holy places affected by the "Ditwah" disaster situation.
It is reported that 758 Buddhist temples, 272 Hindu religious places, 199 Muslim religious places, and 99 Christian religious places faced various disasters due to the "Ditwah" disaster situation.
Steps are currently taken to carry out renovation work at 178 of those holy places using funds of 800 million rupees deployed by the Buddha Sasana Fund, the Central Cultural Fund, and the Anagarika Dharmapala Foundation, including 200 million rupees allocated as per the Cabinet decision dated 2026-04-27.
