Sri Lanka, Sept. 15 -- Cabinet approved allocating an additional 2,500 million rupees to the Paddy Marketing Board to ensure the successful implementation of the 2026 Yala season paddy purchasing programme.

The decision followed a proposal submitted by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation.

Out of the provisions allocated to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation for the 2026 Yala season paddy purchasing programme, 6,000 million rupees were already provided to the Paddy Marketing Board, with paddy purchasing currently underway using those funds.
