Sri Lanka, Sept. 19 -- The Consumer Affairs Authority conducted a special raid in the Pettah area today (19), targeting hazardous cosmetic creams sold under claims of rapidly whitening skin.

During the operation carried out this afternoon targeting shops on 2nd Cross Street in Pettah, officers seized a large stock of face creams, perfumes, hair dyes, soaps, and skin bleaching or whitening creams suspected of containing harmful chemicals and unauthorised additives.

According to the Consumer Affairs Authority, many of the seized skin whitening creams failed to display any information regarding their manufacturer, importing company, or individual importer.
