Sri Lanka, Sept. 26 -- The body of a 21-year-old youth was discovered in an abandoned well in the Ihala Kumbukgollewawa area within the Horowpothana police division yesterday (25).

Police identified the deceased as Ameerdeen Mulawpar Zahran, a resident of Ihala Kumbukgollewawa in Horowpothana.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the youth had gone to herd cattle with his sister on the day before yesterday (24). During the outing, he had handed firewood to his sister and left the location, stating that he would return later.

As the youth failed to return home, a search was launched, leading to the discovery of his body inside the abandoned well. Police stated that an injury was visible on the body.
