Sri Lanka, Sept. 9 -- The Bill to abolish the Chief of Defence Staff position is scheduled for presentation to Parliament today.

The vote regarding the matter is expected to take place at 5:00 PM today.

The post was originally established to coordinate and manage joint operations among the tri-forces.

Defence expenditure management and the position no longer being required led to the decision to abolish the post.
