Sri Lanka, Oct. 27 -- Grave concern exists regarding the death of 29-year-old Ishara Harshakumara, a resident of Kiriwaththuduwa and father of two, while in the custody of the Homagama Police Station following an arrest during a narcotics investigation.

The Bar Association of Sri Lanka expressed this concern through an official statement.

Family members visiting the Homagama Police Station on the morning of 25th October 2026 observed physical injuries indicating severe assault.

However, the Police Spokesman stated that the suspect fell ill during an operation and passed away following hospital admission.
