Anuradhapura Gambirigaswewa hospital at risk of closure, No doctor
Sri Lanka, Aug. 8 -- Anuradhapura Gambirigaswewa Primary Medical Care Unit is at risk of closure due to the absence of a doctor, residents said.
Residents faced severe difficulty because a doctor is unavailable for this hospital, which is equipped with all facilities, including two wards and a medical officer's quarters.
Due to this, thousands of people from many villages, including Gambirigaswewa, Palugollawa, and Aluthgama are affected, and residents claim that only one female employee currently works at the hospital. Reports indicate that the only female doctor who worked at the hospital also left the hospital about a month ago.
Consequently, the people of the area have to travel a distance of about 28 kilometres to the Anuradhapura...
