Sri Lanka, Sept. 19 -- An 'Amber' advisory for severe lightning was issued for the Uva and Eastern provinces, alongside the Jaffna, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, and Polonnaruwa districts. The Department of Meteorology released the warning at 11.00 a.m. today (19), remaining in effect until 11.30 p.m.

Thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to strike several locations across these regions. Localised strong winds of a temporary nature may also occur during the thundershowers, the department added.

Members of the public were advised to take adequate precautions to minimise potential damage caused by lightning activity.
