Sri Lanka, March 9 -- Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today (09) ordered the remand of Dinesh Nishantha Kumara, alias "Gampaha Baba," an alleged high-profile organised crime figure and drug trafficker, until March 23.

The magistrate directed the Maritime Crimes Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate and submit a comprehensive report on whether the suspect faced previous charges or arrests before his illegal departure from the country. A decision regarding the bail application filed by the suspect's legal counsel will be made after the court reviews this report.
