Air Quality deteriorates in six districts amid rising particulate levels
Sri Lanka, Oct. 31 -- Air quality in parts of the northern and north-western regions of Sri Lanka has recorded an increase in suspended particulate matter.
According to the Central Environment Authority, monitoring conducted, utilising data from the National Building Research Institute and the national air quality website-shows elevated levels of particles in the Jaffna, Mannar, Anuradhapura, Puttalam, Mullaitivu, and Trincomalee districts.
Officials stated that this condition is caused by wind currents entering Sri Lanka from outside the country.
Based on the Sri Lanka Air Quality Index, authorities noted that while the situation may pose health impacts for sensitive individuals, it has a very low impact on the general public.
