Sri Lanka, April 10 -- A Bell 412 helicopter from the Sri Lanka Air Force has been deployed to assist in extinguishing the fire at the Karadiyana garbage dump, according to official reports.

The sudden fire broke out this afternoon (10) at the waste disposal site in Bokundara, Karadiyana.

The Moratuwa Municipal Council Fire Unit immediately initiated efforts to contain the blaze, deploying three fire trucks to the location.

The Air Force intervention follows these initial ground operations to prevent the fire from spreading further.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
