Sri Lanka, April 18 -- Twenty-six people died due to drowning from the 12th of this month to the present.

Two deaths were reported yesterday (17) from two areas of the island.

A 55-year-old resident of the area died after drowning while bathing in the Maradankulama Tank in Mihintale.

His 11-year-old son and another 12-year-old child were bathing in the tank when they suddenly began to drown, and the deceased individual jumped into the water to save them.

The two children were not harmed in the incident.

Meanwhile, a 17-year-old youth died after drowning while bathing in the Seethawaka River in the Dehiowita - Hinguralakanda area.
