Sri Lanka, April 22 -- A private bus traveling from Trincomalee to Mutur veered off the road and collided with a tree near the Upparu River bridge on the Trincomalee-Batticaloa main road.

The incident occurred this evening (22) within the Kinniya police division while the vehicle was operating on its routine public transport route.

Twenty-four passengers sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment at the Kinniya and Mutur hospitals.
