178 vehicles remain uncleared at Hambantota Port for 10 years
Sri Lanka, July 27 -- Hambantota International Port Group (HIPG) has revealed that 178 vehicles have remained uncleared at Hambantota International Port for nearly 10 years.
HIPG said these vehicles were already at the Port before it assumed management of Hambantota Port in December 2017.
In addition, a further 175 vehicles remain uncleared at the Port, with these dating back to the period before vehicle import restrictions were introduced in 2020.
The company said nearly 600 vehicles have remained at the Port for more than one year, of which around 400 were imported before Sri Lanka resumed vehicle imports in 2025.
