10 hospitalised after bus crash at Pinnaduwa Expressway Interchange
Sri Lanka, June 8 -- According to the Police, ten passengers were injured in an road incident involving a private passenger bus travelling on the Southern Expressway, which crashed into a concrete barrier at the Pinnaduwa interchange this evening (08).
The injured were transported to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital in Galle by officers from the Sri Lanka Air Force's Emergency Accident Firefighting and Rescue Unit operating on the expressway.
The bus was travelling from the Makumbura Multimodal Transport Centre to Galle when the accident occurred as it was attempting to exit at the Pinnaduwa interchange.
Police suspect that the accident may have been caused by a brake failure.
