Sri Lanka, July 21 -- Five individuals, including a former minister's son, were arrested for allegedly illegally excavating on a plot of land in Yakawanguwa in Aluth Oya, Habarana hunting for treasure, Hathareskotuwa Police state.

The arrestees have said that the treasure hunt was conducted following a dream seen by one of them, according to Police.

Police stated that these suspects attempted to obtain the treasure by conducting religious rituals with a kovil priest and by digging a 10-feet deep pit.

The raid was conducted yesterday (20) night based on information received by Hathareskotuwa Police Station OIC Sub-Inspector S. W. M. Upali Herath.
