Zee bags India rights to telecast FIFA World Cup
Mumbai, June 2 -- Millions of football fans in India were assured of live telecast from the FIFA World Cup starting on June 11 in the USA, Mexico and Canada after the Zee Group and the world football governing body announced the rights deal in a statement on Monday.
Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. also announced its launch of four dedicated sports channels - Unite8 Sports 1, Unite8 Sports 1 HD, Unite8 Sports 2 and Unite8 Sports 2 HD - and their existing OTT platform Zee5 to telecast matches of the 48-team tournament. A total of 104 matches will be played in the biggest World Cup to date.
The latest valuation has not been made public but the rights bagged by Zee are for the 2026 and 2030 World Cups as well 37 other Fifa events, up to 2034...
