India, Sept. 5 -- A glucose spike is a sharp increase in blood glucose levels that usually takes place after eating foods loaded with carbohydrates. It is something that doctors often suggests us to avoid to maintain good metabolic health.

Taking to Instagram on September 4, Dr Chopra explained what happens when glucose spikes become regular, and what can be done to keep it in check.

Explaining glucose spikes, Dr Chopra shares that it is what happens when we eat foods that have a high glycemic index. These are simply carbohydrate-rich foods that are digested and absorbed quickly by the body, causing a rapid and sharp rise in blood sugar levels.
