India, Aug. 14 -- A Uttar Pradesh home guard was killed and a constable was injured on Wednesday after a SUV hit the police patrolling motorcycle on National Highway-9 (NH-9), near Crossings Republik, police said on Thursday. The incident took place around 11.15pm.

"The police response vehicle (the motorcycle) was of Noida police, and they were headed to Gaur City 2 area via NH-9. The bike was hit by a speeding and rashly driven Thar. Police rushed both injured to a hospital where the home guard, identified as Kapil Kumar, 40, died during treatment. The injured constable, Praveen Kumar, 36, is stable.
