UP Cabinet decisions: 180-day maternity leave sans 2-year-gap condition okayed
India, Aug. 23 -- LUCKNOW The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet on Saturday approved a proposal to allow 180-day maternity leave to state government women employees, twice during their entire service period (including in cases of adopted children) without the condition of a two-year gap between the two leaves.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath presided over the State Cabinet meeting that approved 11 proposals through circulation including the one about the maternity leave in the interest of women employees.
The Lucknow bench of Allahabad high court has relaxed the two-year gap norm under Rule 27 of the Maternity Benefit Act 1961, while hearing the petitions challenging the two-year norm.
