India, May 16 -- Bandi Sai Bhageerath, son of a Union minister, was arrested on Sunday in Narsingi, a satellite town in Telangana's Hyderabad, in a case against him under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, police said.

The case against him was filed on May 8 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the POCSO Act, based on a complaint submitted by the mother of the 17-year-old girl.

Notably, reports earlier said that Bhageerath had surrendered before the police for questioning, however police later confirmed that he was arrested in the case.
