India, July 24 -- Punjab BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu resigned from the post of Union Minister of State for Railway and Food Processing Industries on Friday. President Droupadi Murmu accepted his resignation.

Bittu, who had been a part of the Union Council of Ministers since 2024, is likely to focus on forthcoming elections in Punjab next year, news agency PTI reported.

Bittu on Thursday wrote to Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann, seeking his intervention for early resolution of issues pending with the state government that are delaying several critical railway infrastructure projects across the state.
