India, June 8 -- Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Jahangir Khan was arrested by West Bengal Police near the India-Nepal border on Sunday in connection with an extortion case.

According to police, Khan had been evading arrest for several days before he was tracked down and taken into custody near the international border. His arrest comes weeks after multiple cases were registered against him and several of his associates over allegations including extortion, intimidation, assault and poll-related violence.
