New Delhi, Aug. 27 -- Wednesday's devastating floods broke out on the Lhende Khola in Nepal, a tributary of the Bhote Koshi - the local name for the upper Trishuli as it flows south from Gyirong in Tibet into Rasuwa district. The Bhote Koshi feeds the Trishuli river, which then runs south through Rasuwa and Nuwakot, before meeting the Kali Gandaki river at Devghat, on the edge of Chitwan district. From that confluence the combined river is called the Narayani, and swings southwest. Nepali officials familiar with the matter said the districts that are worst affected are all located along the river's path, with the avalanche and floods caking large swathes of these towns and villages in mud, rock and debris.
