India, Sept. 10 -- Tamil Nadu chief minister C Joseph Vijay "must not talk about unnecessary controversies in the Assembly," DMK president MK Stalin said on Thursday. Stalin hit back at Vijay over his recent Assembly remarks on the Emergency-era Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA). He recounted his 1976 arrest and alleged custodial torture during the Emergency.

Addressing Vijay as "Thambi Vijay", Stalin said his Emergency-era struggle was part of the DMK's history. "History can never be changed," the former Tamil Nadu chief minister said. He also asked those who doubted his account to check the documents available in the Assembly library.
