Mohali, April 4 -- A day after two motorcycle-borne men opened fire outside a New Chandigarh property dealer's house, investigators have said that the attack was allegedly carried out at the behest of gangster Lucky Patial. Senior officers privy to the investigation, who declined to be named, said preliminary probe indicates that Patial's men may have executed the firing after an extortion demand was not met.
The shots were fired outside the Hoshiarpur village residence of property dealer Sukhdarshan Singh. Police said Singh had received a demand of Rs.1 crore from a caller claiming to be gangster Lucky Patial nearly ten days before the attack.
