New Delhi, Aug. 5 -- The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the Centre to consider framing a scheme for military cadets who are boarded out of training academies due to injuries but are not eligible for benefits under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act because their disability is assessed at less than 40%. Granting the Centre one month to come up with a proposal, a bench of justices BV Nagarathna and Manmohan stressed the need to support such cadets and their families. "You have to see the plight of the parents seeing their children with arms amputated, wheel-chair bound, nobody to look after them when they are gone," the bench told the Centre.
