New Delhi, Sept. 22 -- The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a petition questioning zoo authorities over their failure to prevent people from jumping into animal enclosures, saying such acts cannot be regulated through judicial orders. A bench headed by Justice Vikram Nath said, "Zoos need to have safeguards. Even if we pass orders, how can they be implemented." The bench, also comprising Justices AG Masih and Sandeep Mehta, found no merit in the plea filed by non-profit Red Lynx Confederation. The case had been pending since 2020, when the petitioner challenged a Delhi HC order refusing to entertain its plea seeking measures to prevent people from entering animal enclosures.
