India, Sept. 28 -- The Punjab State Women Commission has sought a detailed report from the deputy commissioner and senior superintendent of police, Kapurthala, regarding an alleged incident involving a girl student at Lovely Professional University (LPU), in Phagwara, which triggered arson and loot on the university campus.

Taking suo motu cognizance of incidents at Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, and Chitkara University, Rajpura, the commission directed senior civil and police officers in Kapurthala and Patiala districts to conduct inquiries and submit action taken reports by September 30.
