Rohtak, April 3 -- A Punjab Congress leader and his driver, who had stopped their Defender SUV on the roadside to check its flat tyres, were killed in a hit-and-run accident near Jakhauli toll plaza on the Kundli-Manesar and Palwal expressway in Sonepat on Thursday evening, police said.

The deceased have been identified as former Congress Bathinda (rural) president Khushbaz Singh Jattana, 45 and his driver Parminder Singh. His gunman, Harandeep Singh sustained serious injuries and was admitted to Sonepat's civil hospital for treatment.
