PM Modi lauds athletes' efforts at Glasgow CWG
New Delhi, Aug. 11 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi felicitated India's CWG contingent, congratulating them for the medal haul in Glasgow and calling them an inspiration for the new generation. He had a candid conversation with the athletes and shared some lighter moments as well.
India won 39 medals at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, including 13 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze. Despite a curtailed sports programme, India finished fourth on the medal table. Athletics and para-athletics, boxing, weightlifting and judo contributed the bulk of India's medals.
